What is a Quality Backlink ?
A quality backlink is one which MUST pass pagerank or otherwise known as passing link juice. It must have the DoFollow attribute firstly and this means it must not have the NoFollow attribute because by default all links are DoFollow.
When it is a DoFollow link, it will pass the pagerank down to your page. Now it must also have some page rank to pass down. If it has no page rank then altought it will pass down, it has nothing to pass down. If it has a PR9 rank then it will pass down a good amount of pagerank. If it is PR1, it will pass down pagerank but significantly less than if it was PR9.
The next important issue is where the link is located and the type of link it is. The most valuable configuration would be a contextual link with your keyword as the anchor and it is embedded in the content area of the HOME page of the ROOT domain.
If the ROOT domain is PR9, then this link by itself could easily boost your pagerank by quite a few notches. As an example, a backlink such as this on a PR9 domain will cost at the very least $450 PER MONTH !!!
Even with the market willing to gladly pay $450 per month, it is close to impossible to locate such a backlink. The market demand for it is overwhelming and the supply severely limited.
The most effective strategy is to get permanently set up on a lower pageranked domain for a significantly lower cost(a PR1 backlink could be even less than $5 a month) and then stay there as the domain increases in pagerank and when it gets to a PR9 ranking, you have a PR9 top quality backlink which cost you less than $5 a month.
